Birthday Edition
The August issue of the Havelock, one of the WAVES publications, wasn’t going to let the anniversary pass without a mention. It’s a special birthday edition!

It would be a “sumptuous” banquet, according to the Navy, at this anniversary celebration at NTS San Diego.

The Rally
More than 10,000 WAVES attended this rally at the Washington Monument to celebrate their 2nd anniversary on July 30, 1944. After they assembled, they marched over the hill to the Sylvan Theater.

Sailing Party
Even the Naval Academy joined in the celebrations for the 2nd birthday of the WAVES. Here a group a sailor and WAVES go out on what the Navy calls a “sailing party” – though it looks the the boats are propelled by engines to us!
